Man notifies Conn. police that he parked illegally in handicapped space, gets arrested

By Associated Press

6:33 a.m. CDT, August 26, 2011

SHELTON, Conn. (AP) — Connecticut authorities say a 29-year-old man was so upset about the lack of parking enforcement in his town that he parked his car illegally in a handicapped space and called police more than a dozen times before officers arrived and arrested him.

Shelton police say they had to subdue Michael Andes with a stun gun Thursday morning after he screamed at officers that they weren't doing their job and became combative. He was charged with breach of peace and interfering with an officer and was given a parking ticket.

Authorities say Andes first called police at 2 a.m. and yelled at a dispatcher.

Andes posted $1,000 bail and is due in court Sept. 6. There's no phone listing for Andes and it's not clear if he has a lawyer.

Geese Really? Didn't occur to you that it may go bad?

If you have read this blog for any length of time I am almost always a Police apologist and supporter, primarily because I am one and secondly, the information used to criticize  an Officer's conduct is usually either wrong or demonstrates a gross lack of understanding of our profession.

However the following story is an exception to my stance.  While this Sergeant is 1) stupid 2) a disgrace 3) morally bankrupt 4) should be locked away for at least 20 years...it is..... 5) really funny.

Charges: Cop using squad car to deliver pot
February 2, 2010

By MATT HANLEY mhanley@stmedianetwork.com

An Earlville police sergeant who lives in North Aurora is facing multiple felony charges after he allegedly made a marijuana delivery while on duty.

Sgt. Sergio Fuentes, 41, was charged with felonies possession of a controlled substance and official misconduct, according to the Tri-County Drug Enforcement Narcotics Team.

On Friday, Fuentes delivered marijuana to a person who was working with the narcotics team, police said. Fuentes was on duty at the time of the alleged delivery and drove his Earlville squad car to the delivery.

Fuentes was arrested a short time later at the Earlville police station.

After the arrest, officers found more marijuana in Fuentes' personal car, then recovered another illegal drug -- Clonazepam, a muscle relaxer -- during a search of his squad car, police said.

According to the Earlville Mayor Mike Hall, Fuentes has been suspended without pay. At the advice of the city's attorneys, Fuentes' medical benefits remain in place for the time being, Hall said.

Hall said Fuentes had been with the department several years and was generally thought to be doing a good job. He hurt his knee on the job and had been out on workman's compensation, returning a few months ago.

"As a city, obviously we're very disappointed," Hall said Monday. "We're shocked. The state's attorney and those people are handing this. We'll obviously cooperate in any way we can."

Official misconduct carries a possible sentence of up to five years. If convicted of possession of marijuana, Fuentes could be sentenced to up to three years.

The Tri-County Drug Enforcement Narcotics Team consists of police departments from LaSalle, Bureau and Putnam counties.

There's drunk and then there's record setting drunk

I took it fairly easy this New Years Eve in the drinking department  Which I would like to say is the norm but sadly is not.  However that said I did have some success this year.  I digress,  while drinking an assortment of beers form the Chicago based Two Brothers Brewing Company, it got me thinking about what is the worlds record for being drunk and here it is:

Bulgarian's blood-alcohol level astounds doctors
Last Updated: Tuesday, January 4, 2005 | 3:07 PM ET
CBC News

Bulgarian doctors tested a man's blood-alcohol level five times before accepting it was 0.914 – nearly twice the amount considered to be life-threatening.

The 67-year-old man landed in hospital on Dec. 20 after a car knocked him off his feet in the southern Bulgarian city of Plovdiv, police and doctors said Tuesday.

A breath test indicated blood-alcohol levels so high that police thought their equipment was broken, because the man remained conscious and talked with them.

The head of Plovdiv police, Col. Angel Rangelov, said five separate lab tests taken the same day confirmed the man's blood-alcohol level of 0.914.

A blood-alcohol level of 0.55 is considered potentially fatal.

In comparison, the Bulgarian man's level was more than 11 times higher than the legal blood-alcohol limit for drivers in Canada, which is 0.08.

The man, who has not been identified, was reported to be in stable condition after being treated for head injuries.

Ok the average person successfully processes .015 b.a.c out of their system per hour so this fine gentleman had the equivalent of 60 beers in his system at one time! (article link: http://www.cbc.ca/world/story/2005/01/04/drunk-bulgarian-050104.html)

The picture is of my new favorite beer it is from the Surly Brewing Company out of Minnesota-called Furious-a fantastic beer which I promise I will never have more than six of at any one time but it is so good I probably will need help with that, well not really.  Enjoy.

Weeee! Job Security!

James Prusi never thought a pair of phone calls Friday about a live, spray-painted goat in a customer's trunk would thrust him and his co-workers at Tires Plus into the national spotlight.
Little did he know.
Just days after calling animal control, which seized the animal, news outlets from across the country jumped on the story of the bound, purple-and-gold alpine goat with the number of new Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre shaved into its sides.
The New York Times, USA Today and The Boston Globe, as well as newspapers from Sacramento to Miami, printed the story of the goat - now named Brett - and area television crews swarmed the shop Monday.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals even referenced it in a Twitter post, calling for animal cruelty charges against the "Brett Favre goat woman."
That kind of exposure never came to mind when Prusi called the Daily News.
"I thought I'd just get the locals a kick," by telling the story, he said. "The main reason we called (animal control) was for the well-being of the goat."
Tires Plus employees called animal control Friday after two customers stopped in to have a belt replaced and mentioned they had a goat, which they planned to slaughter, in the trunk of their car.
That call may also lead to misdemeanor charges.
Assistant City Attorney Brian Glodosky said he plans to charge Janelle Riopel, 21, of St. Paul and Sonny Yang, 24, of La Crosse, Wis., with overworking or mistreating animals and cruelty in transportation.
A message left for Riopel was not returned Tuesday, and attempts to reach Yang were unsuccessful.
In an interview with Milwaukee radio station, Riopel said she and her boyfriend picked up the goat at a Wisconsin farm and planned to eat it. She said the animal was already painted and shaved when they received it.
But Brett is not a meat goat, said animal control officer Wendy Peterson.
Life at Tires Plus has been hectic since the incident, said store manager Dave Hanner.
Prusi said he's already gotten his fill of his name in print and his face on newscasts.
Hanner and Prusi have given interviews to radio stations in Milwaukee, Chicago, Rochester, N.Y., and even Canada.
"It's all been very positive," Hanner said. "Any publicity for the store is good publicity."
Hammer said they've also received dozens of calls from people thanking them for saving the goat - including one from a New York actress. A local woman even dropped off doughnuts Saturday morning.
"I feel good about what we did," Hanner said. "It is a unique story, and it's something out of the norm."
Reporter Nolan Rosenkrans contributed to this report.

Its been busy

I try to get at least one post a week and hopefully find time for two, but this week would not allow this. The week consisted of getting up in the early morning and coming back in the early morning so I was a little long in getting a post up. In the next day or two I will do a regular post but until then enjoy this.

Ex-con allegedly targets cops for robberyNew York | July 23, 2007 12:01:13 AM IST

An ex-con allegedly tried to rob two people in New York, police said, but didn't notice his intended victims were police officers -- in uniform.

Police said 33-year-old Jermaine Washington allegedly was so intent on robbing someone Saturday that he pulled a fake handgun on the two armed police officers as they walked through Riverside Park, The New York Daily News said Sunday.

It was stupid criminal tricks, a police source said. The guy didn't even look to see who was coming.

After Washington allegedly pulled his fake gun, the two officers drew their real weapons and Washington surrendered after a short but tense standoff.

Job Security

In an economy that is still heading into a deeper recession it is good to know that my clientele is still out there needing our life style management aid programs. There are two main ones...the right cuff and the left cuff.

Psalm 74:22 Rise up, O God, and defend your cause; remember how fools mock you all day long.
